I personally recommend each of these books.
(if you buy them from here, I get free books from Amazon – I can then read more and put up more great content!).
Why these books?
- “Slide:ology” – Nancy Duarte’s book on how to make great presentations is a goldmine (her firm, Duarte Design, helped Al Gore with his pitch).
- “The 4-Hour Work Week” – Despite the cheesy title, a serious book which will make you think about how you live your life. Plus it’s full of great tips for web entrepreneurs.
- “Get to the Top on Google” – a readable and practical how-to for winning the Search Engine war.
- “Winning” – Jack Welch was a business giant but he keeps it so simple it almost looks too easy.
- “Strategy Bites Back” – Henry Mintzberg is a great educator and he makes strategy, often an incredibly dry topic, fun to learn.
- “The Tipping Point” – Malcolm Gladwell’s book will help you understand how social epidemics (the basis of viral marketing) occur.
- “The Snow Ball” – Warren Buffett is a business hero of mine, and not because of his money. Unconventional, open, honest, direct, no-nonsense and gorged with great annecdotes.
- “Reality Check” – Guy Kawaski is probably the best coach/writer on startups. Use this book as a checklist for your startup and you’re well on your way.
- “The Monk and the Riddle” – If Guy Kawasaki is the best coach, then Randy Komisar is the best philosopher. Helps you answer the question: Why do you really want to be an entrepreneur?
